Tips to keep your benefits
- Always use your school email as the primary email on every service: many verify the domain automatically.
- Schedule the annual re-verification. If you stop verifying, you lose the plan and drop back to the free version.
- Redeem temporary benefits (cloud credits, months of courses) when you are actually going to use them: the countdown usually starts when you activate them.
- Don't share your account: educational licenses are personal and can be suspended for shared use.
- Offers change over time. Before assuming something is still available, check the program's official page.

How do I get my school email?
Your university gives it to you when you enroll; you usually request it from academic records or IT, and it uses the institution's domain (for example @unal.edu.co or @pucp.edu.pe). If your institution doesn't offer email, many programs accept a current enrollment document.
Does my email have to end in .edu?
No. .edu is specific to the United States. Services like SheerID, UNiDAYS and GitHub recognize universities in Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Argentina, Spain and the rest of Latin America by institutional domain or enrollment documents.
What happens to my benefits when I graduate?
When you stop being a student, licenses expire at the next re-verification: GitHub Pro returns to the Free plan, JetBrains expires (though you keep a 40% graduate discount) and unused credits are lost. That is why it pays to redeem temporary benefits during your final semesters.
Is it safe to verify my student status?
Yes. Services like SheerID or UNiDAYS only check your enrollment with your institution. No legitimate benefit will ask for your school email password or the password of other services.
How much does the GitHub Student Developer Pack cost?

Why was my verification rejected?
The most common reasons are applying with a personal email, writing a name different from your enrollment records, or your institution not being recognized. Try your school email, use your full name exactly as it appears on your student ID and, if needed, upload a current enrollment document.
